It's New Years Eve.
We had one guest, but found it a little strange the way he kept his snorkel on all night. He drank quite a lot too. Oh well, he was entertaining.
We took a walk in the dark to the top of the mountain and looked down at the lights of Poipu. There were a few fireworks going off here and there, but the moon and stars stole the show. The clear skies, bright stars and the sharp crescent moon were all framed by the darkness over the ocean. From the top of that hill in the dark we really could feel the sense of being out on a island in the middle of the Pacific. I felt like we could wave to Fiji from there. What a sweet, peaceful, beautiful place this is. Up there it truly was a silent night, starry night, holy night.
When we got back to the house John did a firework show for us.
Best wishes to the world for 2009.
If only peace and the aloha spirit could take place all over the earth.
